“She is the exact opposite of Renoir. She loves it when the lights come on – she really enjoys the limelight. Wahajama is also extraordinarily beautiful and moves like a dream. It takes nerves of steel to perform in the arena, but the same attitude can sometimes make her seem a little stubborn at home. Yet who could resist this black beauty?!”

The mare, who has extraordinary presence, displayed her talent early on. As a result her owner at the time managed to sell her at the Verden auction in 1997 for the amazing sum of 510,000 German marks. This daughter of Warkant possesses enormous willingness and nerves of steel. At just three years old she was runner up in the German Championships, but at four and five, ridden by Holga Finken, she managed to win the Unaffiliated Young Horse Dressage Championships. When the 17-hand mare was transferred to the Schafhof in 1999, Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff and her husband Klaus-Martin Rath allowed her two years to adjust the talented movement to her riding style. Her first competition at the end of 2001 was also her first win at S level. This was followed by winning the Nuremberg Burg Cup Final in 2002 and the first placings in Grand Prix events, before the international breakthrough came in 2004, when she was 5th in the World Cup Final in Düsseldorf and nominated as reserve horse for the Olympic Games.
