4th Schafhof Festival for UNICEF

40,000 visitors and record donations of more than 600,000 euros

Faces beaming with joy – as far as the eye can see

The 4th Schafhof Festival for UNICEF exceeds all expectations

Kronberg/Ts., September 2007. Last weekend more than 40,000 visitors flocked to Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff’s estate in Kronberg to enjoy the large number of attractions at the Schafhof. Riding, basketball, football and a variety of entertainments – there was plenty of fun for everyone. The 14th to 16th September was already the fourth time that the well-known dressage rider invited visitors to her popular family event, which took place in wonderful sunshine. The focus at all times was on aid for Cambodian children in need. Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff was consummately successful in drawing attention to this year’s UNICEF partner projects. “Thanks to the great commitment from all partners, helpers and visitors, we have broken the 500,000 euro barrier with our donations. This means that we have raised even more money than we did in 2005,” the host announced on Sunday afternoon.

Anyone who went to the children’s festival will have seen happy faces all round. Children were clambering over the climbing course, testing their balance on BMX bikes or skateboards in the half-pipe or racing each other on the mini-motorbike and go-cart track. Parents strolled through the exhibition areas where companies were displaying toys, furniture, garden accessories and much more besides. Tickets for the large tombola were quickly snapped up and sold out early in the afternoon. The lucky winners were delighted with their games, bicycles and cuddly toys. On the hr2 Domino stage and in the tent actors told wonderful adventure stories, comedians made everyone laugh and bands provided musical entertainment. Numerous fans applauded the celebrity football game with Charly Körbel and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Masters Team, introduced by TV commentator Dieter Kürten, no less. Loud cheering was heard again at the exciting final of the Mini-European Cup, won by the Italian team that scored three quick-fire goals in the last minute. There were also plenty of spectators at the dressage arena to watch world champions giving lessons and show riders putting on a splendid performance.

In short: the organisers of the Schafhof Festival for UNICEF once again succeeded in entertaining visitors with plenty of games, fun and sport, at the same time motivating them to give money gladly to help children in Cambodia. All proceeds go towards UNICEF aid projects. One of the projects supports street children in Phnom Penh, hopefully making a better life possible for them. The money also helps to refurbish and extend hospitals and wards, especially for children suffering from AIDS or ones who are malnourished.

But the tireless dedication of Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff and her husband, Klaus-Martin Rath, for children in need throughout the world continues – and they have already lined up many large and small projects for the near future. And at the next Schafhof Festival for UNICEF in 2009 they will again be opening their doors to the colourful family event with an extraordinarily varied programme and welcoming all visitors to their estate.
