Everyone has their own life to lead, which also entails having to deal with minor or even major problems. It is therefore a little difficult at times to think about others. But it is still necessary. After all, many people are so poor that things we take for granted are an unattainable luxury to them: clean water, electricity, education, medical care.
Raising awareness
We want to use the Schafhof Festival for UNICEF to raise awareness for all the people we sometimes lose sight of. And the success of previous Festivals shows that helping others can be fun as well. Celebrities from the world of sports, entertainment and politics give their services freely for this good cause and transform the Schafhof for three days into a haven for sports fans, gardening enthusiasts, anyone who enjoys entertainment, and lovers of culinary delights. Numerous sports attractions, popular children’s musicals, an amusing evening of comedy and an impressive garden and art show – there is something for every generation to enjoy at this major charity event.
Setting an example
One key element, though, is the focus on sports. Children admire successful sportsmen and women almost as much as they adore pop stars: they are their idols. Reason enough for us to invite top athletes to the Schafhof Festival for UNICEF. This gives the children an opportunity to meet their idols in the flesh and to learn about key values. It is important to us that our young visitors can talk to the sports stars and find out which qualities help achieve good results. That is the original idea behind the Festival. We hope that by organising this event, we can help children find out what it takes to have a successful career and, at best, to show them a path that they can follow into the future.
Achieving something together
We regard key values to be team spirit, purposeful action, but also perseverance, discipline and motivation. In sports these characteristics and skills help people to train hard, to achieve personal bests, and also to support each other and work together towards a particular goal; in life these qualities form the basis for responsible and co-operative behaviour, both with regard their particular group and their fellow human beings in general. This idea has gained more and more supporters. Almost everyone we have asked for help has contributed something in their own way.
100 % for children in need
The Schafhof Festival for UNICEF owes its great success primarily to the increasing and active support of all the sponsorship partners and visitors. And all the money raised by the Festival goes straight to UNICEF and is spent on the charity projects selected by the Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff UNICEF Foundation. We pay the administration costs and salaries. This guarantees that every euro that is donated is actually spent on those who so urgently need it.
At the Schafhof Festival for UNICEF the idea has now become established that fund-raising can be fun and that giving to others enriches us spiritually too. A good reason to attend the next Festival 2010 – as sponsoring partner, visitor or helper. We are certainly looking forward to seeing you there.
Yours very sincerely,
Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff
